Privacy policy
Wordrus ("the app", "we", "us") is a language-learning app developed by Louis Currie. We built Wordrus to respect your privacy: it works almost entirely on your device, requires no account, and collects no analytics. This policy explains what limited data the app uses and why.

• No account, no sign-up, no login. We never ask for your email, phone number, or password.
Your learning data stays on your device. Your words, progress, settings, name, and any practice conversations are stored locally on your iPhone and are not uploaded to us.
No analytics, no tracking, no ads. We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
We can't see your data. Because your information lives on your device, we have no way to access it.

This information is not transmitted to us and is never linked to your identity. If you delete the app, this data is removed from your device.

Wordrus makes a single type of network request, and only to provide a core feature:
Text-to-speech (pronunciation audio). To play words and example sentences aloud, the app sends the text to be spoken to our speech provider through our proxy server. This text is learning content (vocabulary words and example sentences), not personal information. Along with the request we send a randomly generated device identifier and the app's bundle identifier so we can prevent abuse of the service. This identifier is not linked to your name or any account, and we do not use it to track you. Generated audio is cached on your device.
Our speech provider processes the text only to generate the audio and return it. We do not send your name, your practice conversations, or your progress to this or any other server.
On-device practice calls. Conversations with Dr Tusk are generated on your device using Apple's on-device models. The content of your side of these conversations is not sent to us or to any third party.

Wordrus offers an optional Pro subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and subscription status is managed using RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider. We do not receive your name, email, or payment details — Apple handles all payment information. Wordrus requests only notification permission, and only if you choose to enable reminders. The app does not access your microphone, camera, contacts, location, photos, or health data.

Because your data is stored on your device, you control it. Deleting the app permanently removes all locally stored data. The temporary device identifier used for the speech service is not stored in a way that lets us identify you, and we do not maintain user profiles.
